Story
Documentary Art icon Peggy Guggenheim’s life in the cultural upheaval of the 20th century was characterized by affairs and relationships with artists like Samuel Beckett, Max Ernst, Jackson Pollock and Marcel Duchamp. Her passion led her to become one of America’s most influential art patrons, collectors and gallerists of contemporary art. The basis for the film is recordings of interviews with Peggy Guggenheim from 1978 and 1979 previously thought lost, which bring to light her sensitive and temperamental character. Also featured are luminaries of the art world like dealer Larry Gagosian, historian Dore Ashton, the director of the New Museum Lisa Phillips and curator Hans Ulrich Obrist. Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict is a fascinating portrait of a woman whose life was as intriguing and unusual as the art that she collected.
