Story

Torn between parallel bars and barricades: In this stirring coming-of-age film, a gymnast living in exile in Switzerland is taken by surprise by the Euromaidan in Kiev. 2013. Olga, a talented, 15-year old gymnast, has moved to Switzerland because the situation in Ukraine has become too unsafe. Her mother is a journalist and has a critical stance regarding the Yanukovich regime. So Olga is preparing to appear for Switzerland at the European Championships, rather than Ukraine. In a foreign country, whose language she barely speaks, the girl is only focussed on her sport. Then the revolution enters her life and turns everything upside down.

Director

ELIE GRAPPE (*1994 in Lyon) studied classical music at the Conservatoire National de Lyon and film at the École Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne. Olga is his debut feature and was shown in the Semaine de la Critique this year at Cannes.
