Ode to Nothing

Story

Death is her life: the loneliness of an undertaker leads to an unconventional family situation Sonya‘s life isn’t exactly a party. Her undertaking business is on the brink of bankruptcy, the few customers she has keep trying to push her prices down and at home she and her father circle each other in silence. One night, the mortal remains of an old lady are left under mysterious circumstances at her door. No-one seems interested in the dead woman – apart from Sonya, who sees in the unwanted corpse a kindred spirit. Beautifully shot, the film moves elegantly to and fro between black comedy and a portrait of loneliness.

Director

DWEIN BALTAZAR began her career as a costumer designer before becoming a director and screenplay writer for cinema and TV films. Ode to Nothing is her third film as director.
