Story

DOCUMENTARY In 1958, a young French socialist is a member of the first official Western delegation ever to visit North Korea. He gets to know a Korean nurse and they grow quite close, even though there is only one word they both understand: napalm, which was dropped in vast quantities by the US Air Force during the Korean war to devastating effect. 60 years later, Claude Lanzmann returns as a film-maker without a permit to the locations of these past events, where very little is reminiscent of the naively romantic atmosphere of the time. A filmic memory of a short moment when the political became very private.

Director

CLAUDE LANZMANN (*1925) is one of the best-known documentary film-makers in the world. His films on the Holocaust like Shoah and Sobibor, October 14th 1943, 4pm and on the history of Israel are seen as milestones of modern documentary film-making. He also works as a producer and publisher.
