Story

A small poor mining town in the 1940s.15-year old orphan Benoît lives and works in his aunt’s general store.His Uncle Antoine is a drinker and runs the local funeral home.On Christmas Eve, Benoît and Antoine answer a call from outside town.A shock awaits Benoît: a boy his age has died of pneumonia.Transporting the body proves tricky as Benoît has a broken arm and Antoine is completely smashed. Mein Onkel Antoine is an accurate portrait of a time when agriculture and clergy played significant roles in Québec and is one of Canada’s best films.
