My Brother is a Dog
OT: Mein Bruder ist ein Hund
Peter Timm | Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, 2004
Fiction Feature | FF2004
Story
When the family comedy ‘Rennschwein Rudi Ruessel” (translates as ‘Rudy the Racing Pig’) hit the big screen in 1995, thousands of children turned vegetarian over night. Director Peter Timm seems to have a penchant for cute four-legged friends, with or without a curly tail. In ‘My Brother is a Dog’ the cuddly dog Tobi is in the centre of a turbulent adventure comedy. But actually Tobi is the little brother of 10-year-old Marietta, who has turned ‘the-pain-in- the-neck’ of a brother into a pet schnauzer with the help of a magic African stone. Fortunately her parents are on vacation and her granny Gerda does not have the foggiest idea of that magic trick. But then the putative dog turns into a film star due to granny’s efforts and things come thick and fast. A literally animal comedy of errors. Film fun on four legs with a good taste of magic!
