Story

Maria is a young woman from Eastern Germany, who, after her flight from the Red Army to a refugee-camp in Lubeck, is invited to move to Iceland to work on an isolated farm and – unbeknownst to her – possibly marry the farmer. On the trawler crossing the Atlantic, Maria falls in love with Olaf, but loses sight of him when she leaves for the farm where life is very hard and primitive. The farmer approaches Maria, but when he gets too close she flees once more, this time to Reykjavik, where she meets Olaf again.

Director

Einar Heimisson (*1966; †1998) studied history in Freiburg. He worked as filmmaker and writer.
