Story
DOCUMENTARY Fearlessly, the film uncovers a web of child abuse in an ultra-orthodox community near Tel Aviv. M won the special jury prize at Locarno. A few miles from Tel Aviv lies the town of Bnei Berak, the centre of the ultraorthodox Jewish Haredim community. The singer Menahem Lang returns to the place where he was revered as a boy for his crystal-clear voice, but of which he also has the darkest memories – having been sexually abused by members of the community during his entire childhood. Lang visits the scenes of the crimes, but also the places he loved. And he encounters people who share his fate. Is an inner reconciliation possible?
