Story

A forbidden passion and a love of cloth: a discreet, finely spun drama set in the sensual world of a caftan shop which touches on an existing taboo in Morocco. Halim and Mina have been married for many years and have a shop for traditional caftans in the old town of Salé. They have long lived with the secret of Halim’s homosexuality – and he has learned to suppress his desires. When Mina is diagnosed with cancer and a young apprentice takes her place at the sewing machine, the existing balance begins to teeter. United in their love, Mina and Halim help each other to get over their fears.

Director

MARYAM TOUZANI (*1980 in Morocco) started out as a journalist. She had her breakthrough as a director in 2019 with Adam. Le Bleu du Caftan ran in the section Un Certain Regard at Cannes and won the FIPRESCI Prize.
