Las Acacias

Story

Somewhere in Paraguay, middle-aged trucker Ruben picks up first a load of lumber bound for Buenos Aires way down south, and then countrywoman Jacinta, who’s headed for the city in search of employment, with her 5-month-old daughter Anahi in tow. Although Ruben agreed to give them a lift, it’s clear that he didn’t expect a baby to be coming, and would gladly off-load them on a bus or even the side of the road if he could. Within the confines of the truck’s cab, the three of them slowly get to know and like one another.

Director

Pablo Giorgelli (*1967) studied film directing in Buenos Aires and works as a director and screenwriter. Las Acacias was awarded the Caméra d’Or for Best First Film in Cannes this year
