Story
According to Hank, the most important thing is to live the life of a poet. This necessitates a steady diet of alcohol, cigarettes, women and writing. Matt Dillon (“Drugstore Cowboy”) plays Hank Chinaski, the alter ego of iconoclastic street-poet Charles Bukowski (1920-1994), with integrity and charm. According to the director, Bukowski packed complicated themes into simple words and not the other way round.
