Story
A small town in Estonia after the fall of the Soviet Union: the teacher Laurihas been gunned down in unexplained circumstances and has been in a coma eversince. His mother cares for him lovingly and receives the visitors who come inlarge numbers to gather round his bed. Friends, pupils, his girlfriend, theschool director – they all keep Lauri up to date about their lives withoutsparing him personal details or confessions. And while the police continue toinvestigate the case and collect evidence, some of Lauri’s closest contactsfall under suspicion. Sophisticated and with a certain laconic quality, thefilm spins an ever-tighter web of potential motives for the protagonists.
Director
Kadri Kõusaar (*1980) has won several awards for her work as a writer and her film Magnus (2007) opened the series UnCertain Regard at Cannes. Mother is her third feature film.Trailer
