An unwilling bride, a thief out of desperation, a student about to jump the career ladder. Marta, Bartek and Robert are like splinters: painful and solitary. Yet they are also wishful dreamers, spontaneous and passionate. Marta elopes in her wedding dress, Bartek admits the theft, and Robert leaves his ivory tower to visit the rundown quarter of his childhood. Director Pieprzyca’s cinema debut is set in modern Poland, divided between nouveaux-riches and the ever poor, depicting three lives that meet abruptly in a tragic, comical and deadly moment.
