Story
Cinematic precious metal from the Middle East: a Mediterranean co-production combines the fantastic with class struggle in a mix of cheerful melancholy. Beirut, Lebanon, the present day. Ahmed, a Syrian refugee, and Mehdia, an Ethiopian servant, are united in an impossible love affair. While Mehdia tries to keep her dignity in the face of an overbearing employer, Ahmed gets by selling scrap metal. The two lovers have nothing to lose. One day, they seize their chance to turn their back on Beirut and roam through the rundown country. But Ahmed’s body is becoming a problem: he is slowly turning into metal.
