Story
Peter Munk lives with his mother, a charcoal burner, in a secluded hut in the forest. He dreams of having a lot of money, being respected and winning the heart of the lovely Lisbeth. An old legend says that deep in the forest lives the glass mannikin, who grants three wishes to Sunday’s children – but Peter’s wishes bring him nothing but bad luck. In despair, he turns to the evil forest spirit Dutch Michel and in exchange for the promise of eternal happiness sells his heart. Based on the eponymous story by Wilhelm Hauff, Marc-Andreas Bochert creates a tale of longing, greed and the power of love.
