Story

As a nine-year-old, Catherine Nicolle gave herself the name Darling and swore never to become a farmer. To her, the trucks that thunder past her house symbolize the big wide world, and she dreams of marrying a trucker. Her dream comes true – and turns into a nightmare. Rather than the freedom she had hoped to experience, she must endure the hell of a violent marriage. “A moving drama about an ordinary woman who becomes an extraordinary heroine” (Christine Carrière) after the novel by Jean Teule.
