To know more than the CIA for a change! This biting spy satire is based on real events and lampoons the German intelligence agency BND, which was looking to land a prestige coup and messed up left, right and centre. BND biologist Arndt Wolf (Sebastian Blomberg) is absolutely convinced that Iraq is still producing the neurotoxin anthrax. But no-one’s interested – until the Iraqi asylum-seeker Rafid Alwan (Dar Salim) claims to have worked on Saddam Hussein’s secret chemical weapons programme as a engineer. Wolf and his boss Schatz (Thorsten Merten) are electrified: in contrast to the Americans, they have first-hand evidence! But the story is a fake and sets in train an absurd drama.
JOHANNES NABER (*1971) makes provocative political cinema. His film Der Albaner (2010) won the Max Ophüls Prize and Zeit der Kannibalen (2014) was awarded among other things the German Film Prize for Best Screenplay.
