Full of esprit and surreal humour, Christophe Honoré’s new film pays homage to the great tradition of French light comedy. After her affair with a student comes to light, Catherine (Chiara Mastroianni) moves out of the apartment she shares with her husband Richard (Vincent Lacoste). But she doesn’t move far – she takes a room in the hotel opposite, Room 212. From here she can see her old home and her husband and process her thoughts on her marriage. What was missing? Gradually, all her old lovers turn up in Room 212 – and each has an opinion on the subject they absolutely have to share with her.
CHRISTOPHE HONORÉ (*1970) worked as a journalist for several publications including Cahiers du Cinéma, wrote several books for children and plays, and made a name for himself as a director of films, plays and operas. FILMFEST HAMBURG showed his films Les Chansons d‘Amour (2007) and Man at Bath (2010).
