Story
In his first film for 30 years, altmeister Víctor Erice muses on memory, identity and cinema itself. While shooting a film on a rocky coastline, the famous Spanish actor Julio Arenas disappears. Although his body is never found, the police come to the conclusion that he has suffered an accident and drowned. Years later, a TV programme takes up the case. Miguel Garays, the film’s director, agrees to appear. Stirred by the footage of the unfinished film and his memories, he decides to find out what happened to his friend.

VÍCTOR ERICE (*1940 in Spain) debuted as a director in 1973 with The Spirit of the Beehive, which is seen as one of the greatest Spanish films of all time. Despite his long career, Close your Eyes is only his fourth feature film.Trailer
