Story

Aviva is a cook in a hotel. But what she really wants to be is an author. Her sister introduces her to the famous and rather arrogant writer Oded who takes her under his wings. Too bad his rather unconventional visions of Aviva collide with her reality: a husband who’s out of work, teenage kids who sulk, a suicidal grandma. An endearing comedy with a brilliant cast ends with a surprise.

Director

Shemi Zarhin (*1961) raised in Tiberias. He is a graduate of The Film and Television department at Tel-Aviv University and teaches filmmaking courses at the Sam Spiegel School in Jerusalem. In 1996 he was awarded The Ministry of Arts and Culture’s Prize for Filmmakers. In 2009 he was awarded the prestigious Landau Prize for filmmaking. One of Israel's leading Writers/Directors. "The World is Funny", Zarhin's latest film, is the highest grossing Israeli film of 2012. It received rave reviews and an unprecedented 15 nominations for the Israeli Academy Awards.
