What we didn’t know: a young woman on a painful search for the truth about her family. Many years after giving up a promising career as a swimmer, Anne (Claudia Michelsen) works as a swimming instructor and talent scout. She trains her niece (Anna-Lena Schwing) for the state championships ambitiously, which is why she often rows with her sister (Karin Hanczewski) who thinks that her daughter is being overstretched by Anne to compensate for her own failures. At the birthday party for their mother (Elenore Weisgerber) the quarrel escalates. There is obviously a long-kept family secret that now threatens to come to the surface – and Anne puts all her energies into finally breaking the silence.

THORSTEN M. SCHMIDT (*1969) studied at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. His graduation film Rochade won the Student Oscar in 1998. His comedy Scheidung für Anfänger [Divorce for Beginners] was a competition favourite in the FILMFEST HAMBURG TV section in 2018.Info
