Story

A family lives on the outskirts of a village. Their everyday life is determined by drought, poverty and a despotic father. The family is held together by a secret which is also at the same time in the process of destroying them. 11 years ago, Gamila, one of the two daughters, broke the ruling sexual moral code. Her father should have killed her then – but instead for the love of his daughter chose a life of isolation and want. But his wife and family are seething with frustration: their thirst for water, love and life is growing by the day. Atash concentrates not on the Israel-Palestine conflict, but on the inner structure of a Palestinian family.
