Story
In crisp black and white, director Hicham Lasri portrays a nightmarish Casablanca in the year 1999. King Hassan II is dying and the mood is tense. M’key roams the streets of the suburbs. He meets a beautiful girl who has been chained up by her brothers to protect her virginity. He falls in love with her, thus provoking the wrath of the brothers, who recall the gang of droogies from Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange. He finds help in the shape of a policeman, who then turns out to be brutally two-faced. In portraying a society dominated by violence and random police brutality, the film’s symbolism ranges from the nightmarish to the absurd.
