Story

DOCUMENTARY An anti-road movie of stories from life in the desert. Malika has a little kiosk in the middle of the sandy wastes of the Algerian desert. A tiny cosmos of wind, sand and silence, cut off from the outside world, that has very few visitors. Truckers, neighbours or dreamers, whoever comes by is greeted by Malika with great hospitality. Over a cup of tea or a cigarette all the stories seem to come together. Every encounter is a meeting of personal destinies, reflecting a country and its soul.

Director

HASSEN FERHANI (*1986) uses reality to tell stories in his films. As in his debut Roundabout in My Head (2015) 143 Sahara Street is neither fictional nor purely documentary.
