When Mum is Away

Story

Papa on the verge of a nervous breakdown: a successful pasta manager suddenly has to run the family household. An Italian commedia al dente! Carlo and Giulia have three children. While Carlo lives for his job and is scarcely visible at home, Giulia gave up her job to look after the family. But that was then – and right now she’s off to the Caribbean with her sister for ten days. Carlo has to take over, and is completely out of his depth in his twin roles of househusband and high performer. Ten days of chaos, along with greater and lesser dramas, begin, ten days which also offer Carlo and the kids a chance to actually get to know each other.

Director

ALESSANDRO GENOVESI (*1973) started out as a playwright and stage director before making his film debut in 2011 with The Worst Week of My Life. This and other comedies of his have all been box-office hits in Italy.
