Since his mother's death, 14-year old Milo has lived alone with his brother in Queens. He's teased at school and mobbed by the kids in his block. Milo doesn't have any friends, but cultivates an obsession with anything to do with vampires. He watches films and is working on a handbook for budding bloodsuckers. For Milo himself, theory has long since become practice. He is currently in the process of transfiguration to vampire and painstakingly records each of his vampiric deeds. Milo then starts going out with Sophie, a girl his age. She too is an orphan, lonely and fascinated by vampire stories -- but only of the romantic, Twilight kind. When she discovers Milo's secret, their young relationship is put to the test. The Transfiguration is a fresh,  different take on the popular vampire fantasy.
