20th anniversary of Filmfest Hamburg

Filmfest Hamburg is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.  Anniversary celebrations will take place between September 27th to October 6th, 2012 with an audience of over 40 000 expected.

One of them being Hamburg’s 1st Mayor Olaf Scholz:
„For the past 20 years, Filmfest Hamburg has been a constant fixture in the cultural landscape of the city.  With its broad range of current and outstanding productions from all over the world, it is exemplary for the relevance and diversity of Hamburg as a film and media hub. A very good reason to celebrate indeed.“

Additionally, there is another, a more personal anniversary:  in 2012, Albert Wiederspiel heads up the festival as director in his 10th year.

Again, well over 140 international productions will have their German, European or even world premiere in one of the festival´s seven venues.

At the same time, young audiences can be equally proud to celebrate an anniversary in 2012.
The „Michel“ – Hamburg’s Children and Youth Film Festival – celebrates its 10th anniversary.  As in previous years, over ten short and feature length films from Germany and abroad will be shown in cooperation with LUCAS – the International Children’s Film Festival Frankfurt.

Furthermore, Filmfest Hamburg once again offers numerous special events, thus making the festival an important meeting place for delegates, cineasts and industry colleagues alike.

The complete programme of the 20th Filmfest Hamburg will be published on September 12th, 2012.
